New Build Warranty & Raised Loft Storage Systems

We often receive questions about whether installing Loft-Trac in your loft will affect your warranty. To provide you with the most accurate information, we've consulted with leading UK warranty providers and Chartered Structural Engineers.

Please note that this guidance applies to all properly installed raised loft storage systems.

Our research indicates that installing a raised loft storage system generally does not invalidate your warranty. However, any defects that arise from the installation, such as condensation or structural damage, will not be covered. Homeowners assume risk for such installations, as this stipulation applies to any modifications made after the warranty period begins.

Structural engineers, warranty providers, and British Standards confirm that appropriate structural design is necessary when loft access is provided. This design must account for live loading on ceiling joists for occasional entry and maintenance, as well as a standard live load allowance for light storage. European Standard EN1991-1-1 specifies that if access is granted, the truss must be engineered to support a loading of 25Kg/m² for storage and a 90kg load for a person accessing the loft.

When properly installed and loaded, Loft-Trac raised loft storage systems will not cause structural or condensation issues. Therefore, we can confirm that a correctly installed and loaded Loft-Trac system will not invalidate your warranty, provided loft access is already in place.

Many prominent UK developers, including Barrett Homes, Taylor Wimpey, Redrow, Bellway, Keepmoat Homes, Vistry, Persimmon, David Wilson Homes, Bloor & Charles Church, and Storey Homes, are integrating Loft-Trac into their new builds to facilitate safe access to equipment in the loft space.
